"Heroes of the Neighborhood" Block Party a Total Success

Despite a steady rain, Saturday's "Heroes of the Neighborhood" Block Party was a total success! The kids had a great time in the Justice League bounce house. There were fun games like cornhole when the weather cooperated. The food from 07 Pub and Shigs In Pit kept everybody happy. And we had great music from The Windows and swimmingintoview that kept the crowd entertained. The tent was full just about all afternoon!A number of thank-yous are in order:-- Thank you to Councilman Geoff Paddock for visiting us.-- Thank you to our neighbors on Westover Road for allowing us to close their block to traffic for the day.-- Thank you to all our board members who helped plan the event, and greeted and talked to everyone. I think there were several new neighbors who came to the event and met new faces and friends.-- Special thanks to Board Treasurer Ellen Simmons. She works at Mutton Party & Tent Rental, and ordered exactly what we needed to keep us comfortable.-- Special thanks to our Dynamic Duo of Membership Committee Chairs, Nadine Rager and Scott Marker - Hoosier Realty Crew. Nadine worked on kids activities, nailed down the food orders, developed the theme, and kept an eye on the details. Scott made the trips to purchase water and pop, made band arrangements, and was generous enough to sponsor the much-appreciated pizzas from the 07 Pub. Yum!ScottMarkerES

The biggest thanks go to all of you wonderful neighbors who weren't scared of the weather forecast and came out to do some community building - bonding together as a neighborhood! That's what it's all about. And that's what makes Historic Southwood Park such a great place to live!-- Steve McCord
